Shimla, June 3: A special theme-based Mega Nati titled “MAA (Mothers Against Abuse and Addiction)” will be organized during the International Shimla Summer Festival 2026 to spread awareness against substance abuse and promote the safety and empowerment of women and children.
The event will be held on June 9 near the Police Assistance Booth from 3 pm to 5 pm, with the participation of around 250 Anganwadi workers and helpers from various ICDS blocks of Shimla.
Deputy Commissioner Shimla and Chairman of the Summer Festival Committee, Anupam Kashyap, said the campaign is centred around the message “A Mother’s Love, Society’s Strength,” highlighting the vital role mothers can play in building a drug-free and socially responsible community.
The programme will showcase collective commitment towards combating drug abuse, strengthening family values, ensuring child safety, and creating a healthier future for society. Participants will also spread awareness about women’s and children’s rights and support systems, including Child Helpline 1098 and Women Helpline 181.
The district administration and the Women and Child Development Department have appealed to citizens, self-help groups, students and social organisations to actively participate in the awareness campaign and contribute towards a safer and addiction-free society.
