Two Applicants Approved for 50% E-Taxi Subsidy Under Startup Scheme

Shimla, October 6: A district-level committee chaired by Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has approved subsidy for two applicants under the Rajiv Gandhi Self-Employment Startup Scheme-2023 (RGSSY) for purchase of e-taxis.

The committee approved 50 per cent subsidy on the ex-showroom price, amounting to Rs 7,49,950 for Sandeep Kumar and Rs 7,17,000 for Ishwar Das, after reviewing their documents and eligibility under the scheme.

So far, 11 applicants from Shimla district have applied through the scheme portal, of whom five applications had already been approved by the committee.

Officials informed that seven beneficiaries in the district have received benefits under the scheme, with a total subsidy of Rs 60.94 lakh distributed so far. Currently, 20 e-taxis are operating in Shimla district under the scheme, providing self-employment opportunities while promoting clean and environmentally friendly transport.

The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to process applications within the prescribed timelines and ensure eligible beneficiaries receive the scheme benefits.
