Himachal Swimmers Selected for 79th Senior National Swimming Championship

Mandi, June 03: Himachal Pradesh swimmers have been selected to represent the state at the 79th Senior National Swimming Championship, scheduled to be held in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, from June 16 to 21, 2026.

The selection trials were conducted at the Wet N Wild Satla Beans Swimming Pool in Bhyuli, Mandi, where swimmers from various districts of Himachal Pradesh competed in freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and individual medley events.

Himachal Pradesh Swimming Association President Vinay Dhiman attended the trials and encouraged athletes to excel in sports and take advantage of opportunities available through sporting achievements. He emphasized the association’s continued efforts to provide state athletes with opportunities to compete at national championships, National Games and other major competitions.

State General Secretary Ishan Akhtar said the selected swimmers will represent Himachal Pradesh at the prestigious national event in Gujarat. He added that the trials witnessed enthusiastic participation from talented swimmers across the state.

The selection process was overseen by committee members Nitish Sharma, Rakesh Kumar Walia, Chetan Sharma and Mahendra Singh Jamwal. Several office-bearers and officials of the Himachal Pradesh Swimming Association were also present during the trials.
