Jairam Thakur Attacks Sukhu Government Over Jobs, Outsourcing and Robotic Surgery Claims
KANGRA, Oct. 6: Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur on Tuesday accused the Sukhu government of failing to fulfil its employment promises and removing thousands of outsourced workers.
Addressing the media in Nagrota Bagwan, Thakur said the Congress had promised lakhs of jobs but had instead terminated outsourced employees appointed under the previous government. Referring to the recent suicide attempt by an outsourced worker at Ner Chowk Medical College, he alleged that the government had shown “no sensitivity” towards the plight of such employees and their families.
Thakur also alleged growing differences within the ruling Congress and questioned the repeated postponement of Cabinet meetings. He claimed that recent local body election results reflected declining public confidence in the state government.
Questioning Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s claims regarding robotic surgery in medical colleges, Thakur demanded a white paper detailing the number of robotic surgery machines, procedures conducted and surgeons trained in the technology across the state’s medical colleges.
