Hamirpur, April 19: Farmers across Himachal Pradesh are witnessing increased income and renewed enthusiasm as the state government raises procurement prices for naturally grown crops under the Rajiv Gandhi Natural Farming Khushhal Kisan Yojana.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has announced enhanced rates in the new budget, with wheat now priced at ₹80/kg, maize at ₹60/kg, raw turmeric at ₹150/kg, and barley from Pangi at ₹80/kg. Ginger has also been included at ₹30/kg. Additionally, milk prices have been fixed at ₹61/litre for cow milk and ₹71/litre for buffalo milk, strengthening rural livelihoods.
Progressive farmer Sanjeev Kumar from Amroh panchayat in Hamirpur shared that switching to natural farming has significantly improved his income due to lower input costs and better market prices. The initiative is encouraging many farmers to adopt sustainable and chemical-free farming practices.
The scheme is emerging as a major support for farmers, promoting eco-friendly agriculture while ensuring better economic returns.
