Himachal Tops Country with Zero Pendency in Samagra Shiksha Infrastructure Works
Shimla:Himachal Pradesh has once again emerged as one of the leading states in the country in the timely completion of infrastructure works sanctioned under the Samagra Shiksha programme.
According to data from the Union Ministry of Education covering infrastructure works approved between 2021-22 and 2025-26, Himachal Pradesh has recorded zero overall pendency. This means that none of the infrastructure projects sanctioned during the period remain pending, reflecting effective and timely implementation at the state level.
The Ministry of Education has appreciated Himachal Pradesh’s performance in completing school infrastructure projects within the prescribed timelines. Along with Himachal Pradesh, Goa and the Union Territory of Puducherry have also reported zero pendency.
Himachal’s performance stands out in comparison with several other regions. Kerala has reported infrastructure work pendency of 75.57 per cent, followed by Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu at 65.06 per cent, while Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 59.21 per cent pendency.
The state has maintained zero pendency across various infrastructure components under Samagra Shiksha. These include additional classrooms, art and craft rooms, boundary walls, school buildings, computer rooms, renovation and improvement of dilapidated buildings, drinking water facilities, electrification and laboratories.
The achievement also extends to biology, chemistry, physics and science laboratories, as well as library rooms and major repair works. Projects related to opening new schools, providing ramps and handrails, and installation of solar panels have also been completed within the stipulated timelines.
Basic student facilities have similarly recorded zero pendency, including boys’ and girls’ toilets and repair-related works.
100% Smart Classrooms Functional
Himachal Pradesh has also registered a significant achievement in the field of digital education. According to the report, 100 per cent of smart classrooms in the state are functional. In comparison, around 50 per cent of smart classrooms in Kerala are reported to be functional.
The combination of zero pendency in Samagra Shiksha infrastructure projects and the full functionality of smart classrooms highlights the state’s focus on timely execution and strengthening educational facilities in government schools.
Samagra Shiksha Director Rajesh Sharma said that zero pendency in sanctioned infrastructure works and 100 per cent functionality of smart classrooms is a matter of pride for Himachal Pradesh. He attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of the Samagra Shiksha team, particularly Civil Coordinator Ranjana Chauhan and her team, along with other coordinators.
He said the objective of Samagra Shiksha is not merely to complete projects on time but also to ensure quality infrastructure and improved facilities for students. The effective implementation of infrastructure projects, including smart classrooms, reflects this commitment.
