Entry Tax Hike at BJP Training Camp in Una

Una, February 20, 2026: Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur criticised the state government while addressing party workers at the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Training Camp of the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency in Una. He described the BJP as a responsible political force and accused the Congress-led government of politicising the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) issue instead of focusing on financial management and revenue generation.

Thakur claimed that Himachal Pradesh received significantly higher financial assistance under the current central leadership compared to previous regimes and alleged that the state government was misleading the public over fiscal challenges. He also criticised the recent increase in entry tax on vehicles entering the state, warning that it could adversely affect tourism and create economic pressure in border districts such as Una, Solan, Sirmaur, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, and Kangra.

Calling on party workers to counter what he termed “misinformation,” Thakur urged them to engage with the public and highlight BJP’s stance on economic and governance issues. Senior party leaders, including MLA Satpal Singh Satti, were present at the event.
