Sant Vinoba Bhave Awards 2026 Honour Eminent Personalities from Literature, Journalism and Social Service

Chandigarh, Sept 6: The Sant Vinoba Bhave Samman-2026 ceremony was organised by Acharya Kul, Chandigarh, at the Community Centre, Sector 43, to honour individuals for their notable contributions to literature, journalism and social service.

The event was held in memory of Bharat Ratna Acharya Vinoba Bhave and veteran journalist and former Chandigarh Press Club president Late Nalin Acharya, who hailed from Baijnath in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. His father, Late Santosh Kumar, was also a well-known journalist from the state.

MP Manish Tewari attended as the chief guest, while Chandigarh Mayor Saurabh Joshi, councillor Premlata, Manju Acharya, wife of Late Nalin Acharya, social worker Chandramukhi Sharma, retired officer Rajesh Rai and Dr Anish Garg were present as special guests.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Saurabh Joshi said honouring people who make outstanding contributions to society not only encourages them but also inspires the younger generation to engage with literature, journalism, social service and human values.

Acharya Kul leaders highlighted Vinoba Bhave’s philosophy of service, sacrifice and social harmony, while remembering Nalin Acharya’s commitment to journalism and social causes. The programme began with a Saraswati Vandana by Prof. Pallavi Rampal and was conducted by poet Annurani Sharma.

The organisers said the event aimed to keep alive the ideals of Vinoba Bhave and the journalistic and social legacy of Nalin Acharya.
