Skill Development Key to Self-Reliance and a Self-Reliant India: Jairam
Mandi, Sept 6: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur said skill development is essential for empowering youth and building a self-reliant India.
Addressing the Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh organised by Jan Shikshan Sansthan Mandi at Sardar Patel University, Thakur distributed certificates to youth who successfully completed skill training in various trades.
He said the launch of the Skill India Mission in 2015 gave fresh momentum to skill development across the country. He noted that Jan Shikshan Sansthan Mandi has trained 9,288 youth since 2021, with a significant number being rural women and members of disadvantaged communities.
Thakur urged the institute to expand training in emerging areas such as digital skills, data analytics, food processing and tourism, enabling Himachal’s youth to pursue self-employment and contribute to the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
