Priyanka Bhardwaj’s Book ‘Lok-Vedna Ka Kavi Kumar Krishna’ Released

Dr. Priyanka Bhardwaj’s book ‘Lok-Vedna Ka Kavi Kumar Krishan’, centred on the literary contribution of noted Hindi poet Kumar Krishan, was released on Sunday at the Conference Hall, Gaiety Theatre, Shimla. The event was organised by Keekli Charitable Trust. The programme was graced by Shri Srinivas Joshi as the Chief Guest, while Shri Rakesh Kumar presided over the occasion. Shri Janesh Kapoor, Shri Kul Rajiv Pant, Shri Pan Singh and Ms Jyotsna Bansal shared their views on the book and the literary and creative contribution of Kumar Krishan. The speakers highlighted the strong presence of folk consciousness, social concerns and the lived experiences of ordinary people in Kumar Krishna’s poetry. The programme was moderated by Shri Jai Chand.

‘Lok-Vedna Ka Kavi Kumar Krishan’ presents a critical and analytical study of Kumar Krishan’s poetry, his creative concerns and his deep engagement with the life of the people. The book explores rural life, the working population, the pain and struggles of ordinary people, and the changing realities of society as reflected in his poetry. The work goes beyond a conventional study of a poet’s literary contribution. It brings into focus the folk sensibility, people’s consciousness and social commitment embedded in Kumar Krishan’s poetry, while examining his work against the wider backdrop of everyday life and social realities.

Speaking about the book, the speakers described ‘Lok-Vedna Ka Kavi Kumar Krishan’ as a significant and thoughtful critical work that offers valuable insights into understanding Kumar Krishan’s poetry. They observed that the book not only introduces readers to the poet’s creative world but also brings them closer to the folk life, experiences and sensitivities that form the foundation of his poetic expression.

The speakers appreciated Dr. Priyanka Bhardwaj’s sensitive and in-depth engagement with Kumar Krishan’s literary work, noting that the book makes an important contribution to the study of contemporary Hindi literature and will be of particular interest to students, researchers, scholars and readers of Hindi poetry.

Dr. Priyanka Bhardwaj, born in 1985, holds an M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. She is a poet and literary critic and has made a significant contribution to both creative writing and literary scholarship. Her published works include ‘Band Mutthi Ka Vyakaran’ and the poetry collection ‘Aasman Mein Dhaan’. Alongside her literary pursuits, Dr. Bhardwaj is actively engaged in teaching and is currently serving as a Professor at Government College, Solan. Her book ‘Lok-Vedna Ka Kavi Kumar Krishna’ reflects her sustained literary and critical engagement and seeks to place Kumar Krishna’s poetry within the broader contexts of folk life, social realities and contemporary literary discourse.

Himachal Tonite was acknowledged as the Media Partner for the event, while LA Himalaya and the WICCI National Media Council were associated as Collaborators, supporting the initiative in strengthening literary dialogue and extending its reach to a wider audience. The book release and discussion organised by Keekli Charitable Trust emerged as a meaningful platform for dialogue around literature, criticism, folk sensibility and the lived realities reflected in contemporary Hindi poetry.
