Solan, June 25
The Centre of Excellence for Direct Selling in Academics (CEDSA) at Shoolini University organised the 5th Annual CEDSA Direct Selling Conclave, bringing together industry leaders, policymakers, academicians, legal experts and entrepreneurs from across the country to discuss the future of direct selling in India.
Held over two days, the conclave centred on the theme “Direct Selling 2030: Building a Dignified, Predictable and Profitable Entrepreneurial Profession.” It served as a platform for sharing ideas and exploring ways to strengthen professionalism, ethics, innovation, compliance and entrepreneurship in the direct selling sector.
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana in the presence of Prof. P. K. Khosla, Chancellor, Shoolini University; Prof. Atul Khosla, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Vishal Anand, Pro Chancellor; and Prof. Ashish Khosla, President, Innovation and Technology, along with delegates from across India.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Vishal Anand, Pro Chancellor, Shoolini University said that execution and relationships remain the biggest strengths in any successful business. Prof Vishal further added that ideas alone do not create success. It is execution and strong personal relationships that make the difference. Every industry is evolving rapidly, and organisations that fail to adapt will struggle to grow. Continuous learning and the willingness to embrace change are essential for long-term success.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Atul Khosla, Vice Chancellor, said India could realise its vision of becoming a Vishwaguru only by striving for excellence with determination and purpose. Prof Khosla stated that whatever you choose to do, aim for excellence. Love your work, respect your teachers and value your parents. Be willing to put in that extra effort, remain fearless and embrace change. Innovation happens when we challenge conventional thinking and step beyond our comfort zones.
Prof. Kamal Kant Vashisth, Professor and Director, CEDSA, spoke about the growth of direct selling education in India and the need to build an ethical and knowledge-driven industry. Prof Kamal Kant added that, good intentions create lasting success. We must approach business with honesty, rational thinking and a commitment to learning. Direct selling should be recognised as a dignified profession where people can build sustainable and profitable careers through ethics, education and professionalism.
A key highlight of the conclave was the presentation of the Direct Selling 2030 Vision, which focused on four priorities: establishing direct selling as a respected career choice, creating informed and profitable entrepreneurs, developing a structured career progression framework, and building an ecosystem based on trust, sustainability and long-term growth.
The conclave featured four panel discussions on important issues facing the industry. The first session explored how to establish direct selling as a respected profession, with speakers highlighting ethics, transparency, consumer trust and regulatory compliance.
The second session discussed ways to build knowledgeable and profitable entrepreneurs through financial literacy, leadership development, customer-focused business practices, digital transformation and continuous learning.
The third panel focused on creating a structured and transparent career progression system through competency-based training and leadership development.
The day one was concluded with a session examining the future of the industry, with experts discussing regulatory reforms, consumer protection, sustainability, technological innovation and stronger collaboration between academia, industry and policymakers.
