Restrictions Imposed on Public Gatherings at 10 Locations in Shimla Till July 31

Shimla, June 1: District Magistrate Anupam Kashyap has prohibited public meetings, demonstrations, rallies, processions, slogan shouting, use of bands, and carrying objects that could be used as weapons at 10 identified locations across Shimla city to maintain public order.

The order, issued under Section 6 of the Punjab Security of State Act, 1953, covers key stretches including areas from Chhota Shimla to the Ridge and Kennedy House, Scandal Point to Kali Bari Temple, Chhota Shimla Chowk to Lok Bhawan and Oak Over, Cart Road to Majitha House Link Road, AG Office to Cart Road, and other specified locations.

The restrictions do not apply to police, paramilitary, or military personnel while performing official duties. Any gathering or event at these locations will require prior permission from the competent authority.

The order has come into immediate effect and will remain valid until July 31, 2026. Violations will attract legal action as per the prescribed rules.
