“Canvas of The Hills” Art Festival Showcases Shimla’s Beauty During Summer Festival 2026

Shimla, June 1: As part of the International Shimla Summer Festival 2026, a unique art event titled “Canvas of The Hills” was organised at the historic Ridge in Shimla, bringing together renowned artists from across the country.
The participating artists created live paintings and sketches capturing Shimla’s scenic landscapes, colonial heritage, and rich cultural traditions. Deputy Commissioner Shimla and Chairman of the Summer Festival Committee, Anupam Kashyap, honoured the artists with certificates of appreciation and received selected artworks as commemorative gifts.
The artworks will be showcased in a special exhibition in the future, offering art enthusiasts a fresh perspective on Himachal Pradesh’s natural and cultural heritage.
Speaking on the occasion, Kashyap said the initiative aims to promote cultural exchange through art, provide a common platform for artists from different regions, and highlight Shimla’s beauty at the national level. He also informed that the next phase of the project will take participating artists to the Spiti Valley to paint the Himalayan landscape.
Artists from Pune, Jodhpur, Visakhapatnam, Assam and Shimla participated in the festival, making it a vibrant celebration of creativity, culture and artistic expression.
