Governor Kavinder Gupta today paid tribute to Pt. Prem Nath Dogra during his visit to Prem Nath Dogra Bhawan in the Kachi Chawni area of Jammu. He interacted with family members of Pt. Dogra.
The Governor said that Pt. Prem Nath Dogra was a great nationalist leader whose efforts played an important role in raising the issue of Jammu and Kashmir’s full integration with India. He said Pt. Dogra’s leadership, courage and dedication earned him the title of ‘Sher-e-Duggar’.
Recalling his role as President of the Praja Parishad, the Governor said Pt. Dogra led the historic movement under the slogan ‘Ek Nishan, Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan’ and worked closely with Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee for the constitutional integration of Jammu & Kashmir with India.
Shri Gupta said that Pt. Dogra’s sacrifices and commitment to national unity continue to inspire people across the country. He also highlighted Pt. Dogra’s contribution towards the welfare of the people and the promotion of Dogri language and culture.
The Governor also promised to install statue of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra at his native village Samilpur in District Samba. He said that it would be a befitting and true tribute to this iconic son of the soil on the very land that gave him to the nation.
