Shimla Police Crack Down on Illegal Firecracker Sale and Storage

Two Cases Registered in Rampur and Jubbal

Shimla, November 1: Shimla Police have registered two separate cases against illegal sale and storage of firecrackers in Rampur and Jubbal for operating without valid licences and permissions.

In the first case, Rampur Police raided a shop at Dakolar on October 29 following a tip-off and found that the shopkeeper, identified as Hitesh Kumar (30), could not produce a valid licence or permit for selling firecrackers. An FIR (No. 121/2026) has been registered under Sections 125 and 288 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 9(B) of the Explosives Act, 1884.

In a separate operation on October 30, a police team from Saraswati Nagar Police Post searched a shop building near Mandal Kainchi in Jubbal and recovered 412 boxes of different types of firecrackers from its second floor. The shop owner, identified as Rajiv Kumar, failed to produce the required licence or permission. Accordingly, FIR No. 57/2026 was registered at Jubbal Police Station under the relevant provisions of the BNS and Explosives Act.

Police said investigations in both cases are underway.

Shimla Police have urged traders and the public to ensure that firecrackers are sold and stored only with valid licences and in compliance with prescribed safety standards. Strict legal action will be taken against violations.
