Shahpur, June 16: The much-awaited Boh Valley Youth Festival in Shahpur Assembly constituency will be held on July 4 and 5 this year. The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Shahpur MLA and Deputy Chief Whip Kewal Singh Pathania at the Shahpur Mini Secretariat.
The meeting was attended by officials from various departments and representatives from the Dharkandi region. Participants expressed gratitude to Pathania and Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for granting district-level status to the festival.
Reviewing preparations for the event, Pathania said a free mega health camp would also be organized to provide healthcare services to local residents.
He informed that two cultural evenings will be a major attraction of the festival, while daytime activities will include programmes by youth groups and Mahila Mandals. Sports competitions such as kabaddi, volleyball, tug-of-war, matka phod and other traditional games will also be organized.
The MLA said an anti-drug awareness rally will be conducted during the festival to spread the message of a drug-free society and encourage youth to stay away from substance abuse.
Pathania emphasized that the success of such events depends on active public participation and coordination among government departments. He added that priority would be given to Himachali artists during the cultural programmes.
Officials also noted that the festival, traditionally held in June, has been scheduled for July this year due to the Panchayat elections.
Shahpur SDM Ganesh Thakur welcomed the MLA and assured full cooperation from all departments to ensure the successful organization of the festival.
