• MP Suresh Kashyap hits back at the government’s Industry Minister
Shimla: Former BJP state president and MP Suresh Kashyap, responding to a press conference held by Himachal Pradesh’s Industry Minister, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Himachal Pradesh to inquire about the disaster-affected people. Subsequently, seven Union ministers arrived and prepared reports on the ground. But the people of Himachal Pradesh yearned to see the Chief Minister and his ministers. The Congress government’s own ministers were missing during the disaster and are blaming the BJP.
Citing the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on Himachal Pradesh, Suresh Kashyap said that in 2023 and 2024, Himachal Pradesh received Rs 9,375 crore as its share of central taxes, Rs 14,942 crore as grants from the Centre, and the total amount of money transferred from the Centre is Rs 24,317 crore. Now, the Congress party spokesperson and minister should explain whether the CAG report on Himachal Pradesh is also false, and whether the CAG report is also lying. BJP leaders do not speak based on figures, but rather on documents.
He said that if anyone did the work of rescuing people during the disaster, it was the SDRF and NDRF teams. The Himachal Pradesh government was absent from the scene. The Congress party is also trying to create a false image; the Chief Minister, ministers, and even high-ranking officials were not present in the field. Regarding the Mani Mahesh Yatra, it should be noted that without the SDRF and NDRF personnel, the Himachal Pradesh government would not have been able to evacuate the people and the dead.
Kashyap said that if the central government wants money, the state government will have to provide an accounting. So far, Himachal Pradesh has received more than 5,000 crore rupees to recover from the disaster, but the Himachal Pradesh government is unable to provide an accounting. The government understands perfectly well how the central government will send money without an accounting.
Himachal Pradesh will now receive a 2,687 crore rupee relief package to heal the wounds of the disaster. The state government will undertake this recovery and reconstruction work under a new World Bank project. The World Bank will fund this project, with a total cost of 2,687 crore rupees. This project has been awarded to Himachal Pradesh by the central government.
