Kotkhai LPG Supply to Be Restored Within Week: Rohit Thakur
Shimla, August 27, 2026: Education Minister Rohit Thakur has directed officials to resolve the LPG supply shortage in Kotkhai within a week, stressing that consumers should not face difficulties during the ongoing apple season.
During a high-level review meeting, Thakur instructed departments and the district administration to clear the pending backlog on priority and strengthen supply arrangements. Officials were also directed to expedite the process of linking certain Kotkhai panchayats with the Narkanda gas agency.
The meeting was informed that Kotkhai has around 15,400 LPG connections, while Kalbog has nearly 1,200 consumers, of whom about 600 still face a supply backlog. A vehicle carrying 250 LPG cylinders has been dispatched to address the pending demand.
Thakur also directed officials to expedite the proposal for a new gas agency at Gumma and invite applications for another agency in Kalbog. Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap assured that coordinated efforts would be made to restore regular LPG supply within the stipulated time.
