Auckland House School Girls Shine at 4th District Shimla Grappling Championship

Shimla, May 29, 2025 – The young athletes of Auckland House School for Girls delivered an outstanding performance at the 4th District Shimla Grappling Championship held at the Indira Gandhi State Sports Complex.

In the under 27 kg category, Rudranshi Sharma (Class IV), Kavya Sharma (Class V), and Swaranjali (Class III) each clinched gold medals in their respective weight divisions. In the under 30 kg category, Varahi Thakur and Rakshita Thakur (both Class V) also won gold, while Yokshita Dogra (Class III) bagged a bronze medal. Additionally, Vriddhi Siod (Class IV) claimed gold in the under 38 kg category.

Coach Ajay Thakur of Auckland House School praised the girls’ discipline and determination, which led to their remarkable success.

The championship, organized by the Grappling Committee of District Shimla, saw enthusiastic participation from across the district in Sub-Junior, Cadet, Junior, and Senior categories. The event is affiliated with the Grappling Committee of India and functions under the Indian Wrestling Association, with recognition from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

These achievements reflect the growing popularity of grappling and the rising standards of sports among young girls in the region.
