Ahilyabai Holkar’s Legacy is Etched in Golden Letters of Indian History: Tandon

Solan, May 28 – On the occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar, BJP Mahila Morcha, Solan District, organized a commemorative event at Murari Market, where BJP State Co-incharge Sanjay Tandon was the chief guest. He was joined by BJP State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal, Vice President Rashmidhar Sood, General Secretary Bihari Lal Sharma, former minister Rajeev Saizal, candidate Rajesh, former MLA K.K. Thakur, Govind Ram Sharma, Lakhwinder Rana, Purushottam Guleria, District President Ratan Pal Singh, Mahila Morcha State President Vandana Yogi, and Mandal President Shailendra Gupta. The event was chaired by Mahila Morcha District General Secretary Priyanka Agrawal.

In his address, Sanjay Tandon said that Ahilyabai Holkar (31 May 1725 – 13 August 1795), a great ruler, social reformer, and devout queen, left an indelible mark on Indian history through her visionary governance and dedication to social and religious causes. He recalled her major contributions as the queen of Malwa, where she promoted justice, trade, agriculture, and welfare schemes during her reign from 1767 to 1795.

Tandon emphasized that Ahilyabai took major steps in social reform, upliftment of widows and the underprivileged, and development of education, health, and basic infrastructure. She also constructed numerous temples, dharamshalas, wells, and ghats across India, including the restoration of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

BJP State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal highlighted that Ahilyabai Holkar proved that leadership and courage are beyond gender. Her wisdom, valor, and integrity continue to inspire generations, especially women. Her diplomatic and military acumen helped Malwa stay secure from internal and external threats. Bindal concluded that Ahilyabai’s life is a lesson in moral leadership and public service.
