Loreto Convent School, Tara Hall, Shimla Hosts Annual Concert with a Heartwarming Message of Compassion and Transformation

Loreto Convent School, Tara Hall, Shimla, hosted its much-awaited Annual Concert on 28th September 2026, presenting a captivating theatrical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless classic A Christmas Carol, under the theme of transformation, compassion and the rediscovery of the human spirit.

The event brought together six hundred and seventy students from Classes VI to X, teachers, parents, Parish members, PTA members, Heads of Schools and distinguished guests for an evening of music, drama and meaningful reflection. The adaptation, presented under the title ‘A Heart Reborn’, portrayed the journey of Ebenezer Scrooge from a miserly and self-centred individual to a compassionate and generous human being.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Rev. Retd. Sahaya Thatheus Thomas, Bishop of the Diocese of Shimla-Chandigarh, whose gracious presence added significance and dignity to the celebration.

The production beautifully brought the stage alive with mesmerising dance performances, foot-tapping musical numbers, powerful dialogues and impressive acting, captivating the audience throughout the presentation.

The central message of the play was that true wealth lies not in material possessions but in kindness, relationships, generosity and the willingness to care for others. Scrooge’s transformation served as a reminder that it is never too late to change, make amends and choose compassion over indifference.

The presentation also connected Dickens’ timeless message with contemporary life, reminding the audience of the importance of empathy in a world increasingly marked by stress, competition, materialism and social isolation. It encouraged everyone to look beyond oneself, value human relationships and become a source of hope, love and kindness in the lives of others—which is the real message of Christmas.

In his address, Bishop Rev. Retd. Sahaya Thatheus Thomas appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers and emphasised the importance of nurturing not only academic excellence but also character, compassion, responsibility and service. His message resonated strongly with the spirit of the play—that education finds its true meaning when it helps young people become sensitive, caring and responsible human beings.

The Annual Concert also received live coverage by Channel 9. The channel covered the event and recorded the spectacular theatrical presentation, capturing the memorable performances, musical numbers, dances and other significant moments of the celebration.

The Chief Guest was felicitated by Sr. Apolina, Secretary, Managing Committee. The Annual Concert concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by the Principal, Ms. Reetu Sharma. The Principal expressed her gratitude to the Chief Guest, Heads of different schools, dignitaries and parents for their gracious presence and support. She appreciated and acknowledged the students, teaching staff, support staff and the entire team for their hard work, dedication and commitment, which contributed to making the event a great success.
