Shimla, July 16, 2024: Sanjay Awasthi, the acting president of Himachal Pradesh Congress and chief parliamentary secretary, accused BJP leaders of spreading false rumors to mislead the public. He claimed that such tactics would not yield political benefits, as evidenced by the recent assembly by-election results.

Awasthi criticized former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur and BJP State President Rajeev Bindal for their statements against Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu. He stated that the public has endorsed Sukhu’s vision for development.

He further mentioned that the previous BJP government left the state with a debt of over ₹70,000 crore and liabilities exceeding ₹10,000 crore. Despite this, the Congress government has fulfilled its responsibilities, including providing relief to disaster-affected people without significant aid from the central government.

Awasthi highlighted the establishment of a ₹4,500 crore relief fund by CM Sukhu and the fulfillment of promises such as the OPS for employees and a ₹1,500 monthly honorarium for women. He urged BJP leaders to cooperate with the state government in securing financial assistance from the center.
