Food Supply Officers Directed to Intensify Sampling and Testing

Hamirpur | July 29, 2026: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Abhishek Garg has directed officials of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department and the Civil Supplies Corporation to ensure the quality of food grains by carrying out regular sampling and testing across the district.

Chairing the District-Level Public Distribution Committee meeting on Wednesday, the ADC instructed that complaint helpline numbers must be prominently displayed at all 320 fair price shops in the district, enabling consumers to report issues related to the quality or availability of essential commodities.

He informed the meeting that during the first half of the year, 3,421 inspections were conducted at Food Corporation of India (FCI) and State Civil Supplies Corporation godowns, flour mills and fair price shops. A total of 75 food grain samples were collected, of which only one sample failed quality standards.

In addition, 2,089 inspections were carried out at commercial establishments, with five cases of irregularities detected, resulting in fines amounting to ₹9,252.

The ADC said the district is supplying food grains to 5,48,675 beneficiaries through 1,53,647 ration cards. Around 1,63,150 consumers are receiving LPG through 10 gas agencies. He directed officials to ensure the uninterrupted supply of LPG cylinders across all areas of the district.

He also stated that Aadhaar and mobile number seeding has been completed for all ration card holders, while 96 per cent of beneficiaries have completed their e-KYC process.

The committee also discussed proposals and applications for opening new fair price shops in the district, with suitable proposals and eligible applications being approved.
