Mandi, June 24: Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has accused the Himachal Pradesh government of attempting to privatize and dispose of valuable state assets, alleging that the Congress-led administration has effectively put “Himachal on Sale.”
Speaking after inaugurating a photo exhibition on “12 Years of Trust, Development and Public Welfare” at the BJP district office in Mandi, Thakur criticized the proposed auction of the historic Wildflower Hall property and the decision to lease several tourism assets. He alleged that the government was favouring select interests and ignoring public concerns and employee opposition.
The former Chief Minister also targeted the Congress over the Emergency imposed in 1975, describing it as one of the darkest chapters in Indian democracy. He accused the party of repeatedly undermining democratic institutions for political gain and said the younger generation must be made aware of the events of the Emergency era.
Thakur asserted that democracy, constitutional values, and public institutions must remain above political interests and said the BJP would continue to oppose any move that harms the state’s interests.
