HP to study urban development model of Bangaluru for strengthening urban infrastructure: PWD Minister

Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh today visited Bengaluru and held meetings with senior officers of the Urban Development Department, Smart City Mission and Greater Bengaluru Authority to review various urban development initiatives being undertaken in Karnataka.
During the visit, the Vikramaditya Singh examined the urban governance and infrastructure models developed through the Greater Bengaluru Authority and Smart City initiatives. He described the works highly inspiring and among the best examples of planned urban development in the country.
PWD Minister said that the present Government in Karnataka has undertaken remarkable work in the urban development sector and many of the initiatives could serve as useful models for other states. He said that a delegation comprising officers from the Urban Development Department, Municipal Corporations and Smart City projects of Himachal Pradesh would soon visit Karnataka to study these initiatives in detail so that suitable technologies and urban management practices could be adopted in the state.
He further said that all possible efforts would be made to secure approval of proposals from the Union Government under the Urban Challenge Fund. He said that projects already under implementation in the state would also be accelerated to ensure planned and sustainable urban growth.
Earlier, the Minister visited spiritual Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and held discussions regarding developmental activities and promotion of social and religious harmony in Himachal Pradesh. He sought his blessings for the peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of the State.
