HP Government to Ensure ₹1500 Pension for Women Regardless of BJP’s Attempts to Halt it: Naresh Chauhan

Shimla, April 18: State Media Advisor to the Chief Minister, Naresh Chauhan, asserted that the BJP’s claims of being pro-women are deceptive. In a statement released today, Naresh Chauhan stated that the Opposition leader, Jairam Thakur, repeatedly asserts that the BJP is committed to women’s welfare, but the people of Himachal Pradesh are well aware of who approached the Election Commission to halt the disbursement of the ₹1500 pension. He emphasized that Jairam Thakur owes an apology to the people of the state for trying to obstruct women’s rights by stalling the ₹1500 pension. Naresh Chauhan pointed out that no matter how much the BJP tries to manipulate the situation, women in the state will receive the ₹1500 pension under all circumstances.

Naresh Chauhan further stated that the true face of the BJP has been exposed before the people of Himachal Pradesh. He highlighted that the BJP is not only anti-women but also anti-employee. When the demand for the old-age pension was raised, BJP leaders mocked government employees and challenged them to contest elections. In contrast, in the first cabinet meeting under Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukku’s leadership, the state government provided the old-age pension to nearly two million government employees to ensure they do not have to rely on anyone in their old age and can live with dignity. Naresh Chauhan also questioned why the BJP government in Rajasthan discontinued the old-age pension immediately after coming to power, while the Congress government, under Ashok Gehlot’s leadership, immediately provided the old-age pension to government employees in Rajasthan.

The Chief Minister’s Media Advisor emphasized that there is a stark difference between the BJP’s words and actions. BJP leaders are giving false statements in the media only to deceive the people of the state. However, the people of Himachal Pradesh are educated, intelligent, and capable of differentiating between truth and falsehood. Naresh Chauhan highlighted that in just over a year, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukku’s government has provided ₹1500 per month pension to women, old-age pension to government employees, created more than 20,000 employment opportunities in the government sector, and prepared a ₹680 crore start-up fund to provide self-employment opportunities to youth. Moreover, the government has fulfilled five guarantees within a year, marking a new chapter in public welfare.
