Shimla, April 20: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has urged workers to benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, aimed at ensuring financial security for the unorganised sector.
Chairing a district-level meeting, he informed that workers aged 18–40 years with a monthly income below ₹15,000 can enroll in the scheme. Beneficiaries contribute between ₹55 to ₹200 per month, with an equal contribution by the Central Government, and receive a monthly pension of ₹3,000 after the age of 60.
Officials stated that registration under the scheme will be done free of cost at Lok Mitra Kendras, requiring Aadhaar, bank account details, and a mobile number. Various categories of unorganised workers, including domestic workers, construction labourers, street vendors, and MGNREGA workers, are eligible, provided they are not covered under EPF, ESIC, or income tax.
