Himachal Pradesh, May 18: Former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur expressed happiness over the Bharatiya Janata Party’s strong performance in the Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections in Himachal Pradesh, terming the results a reflection of people’s trust in the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Anurag Thakur said the results clearly indicated growing public dissatisfaction with the Congress government in the state and confidence in BJP’s leadership and governance model.
He stated that the victory in the civic body elections was the result of the hard work and dedication of BJP workers across Himachal Pradesh. He congratulated Rajeev Bindal, party workers and voters for what he described as a major electoral success.
The BJP leader alleged that the people of Himachal Pradesh were disappointed with the functioning of the present Congress government and accused it of being directionless, insensitive and ineffective.
Anurag Thakur further claimed that public anger against the Congress government was continuously increasing and asserted that the civic election results reflected a larger political mood in favour of BJP ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
He said the people of Himachal Pradesh had rejected the Congress government in the local body polls and were looking towards BJP for “good governance and development” in the future.
