Shimla, June 14: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur strongly criticized the Himachal Pradesh government led by CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu for allegedly discontinuing key developmental schemes initiated by the previous BJP government. He termed it “shameful” that schemes empowering citizens towards self-reliance—like *Himachal Pushp Kranti Yojana* and *Mukhya Mantri Swavalamban Yojana*—have either been scrapped or made ineffective by blocking funds.
Thakur said schemes like *Pushp Kranti*, which provided up to 85% subsidy for polyhouses and floriculture infrastructure, had significantly boosted farmers’ incomes and curbed migration. He accused the current government of undermining Himachal’s economic progress by derailing initiatives that had mapped out a path for self-reliance and prosperity. He also mentioned the discontinuation of welfare programs like *Sahara*, *Shagun*, and *HIMCARE*, calling it politically motivated and detrimental to the common people.
