Shimla, May 19, 2025 — A heartbreaking incident has come to light from the New Shimla area, where a 12th-grade student, distressed by failing her exams for the second time consecutively, took her own life. Initial police investigation reveals that the student could not cope with the repeated academic setbacks, leading to this tragic step.

The deceased was a resident of Gorwa village in Sirmaur district and was living with her family in a rented room in Shimla. Her father works as a daily wage laborer in the city. The Himachal Pradesh School Education Board, Dharamshala, had announced the 12th class results last Saturday. Following the results, the student was deeply distressed and eventually ended her life.

According to police, the student jumped into a nullah from a bridge near Badagaon on the Maihli to Shoghi bypass road. She died on the spot. The New Shimla police team reached the site immediately after being informed and have registered a case. Further legal procedures are underway.
