Young Swimmers Shine at Shimla District Swimming Championship

Shimla, June 6: The Shimla District Swimming Championship was successfully organized at Roots Country School, Bagi, with around 60 swimmers from different blocks of Shimla district participating in various competitive events.

The championship was presided over by Sunil Rohata, President of the Shimla District Swimming Association and Manager of Roots Country School. Himachal Pradesh Swimming Association General Secretary Ishan Akhtar and State Vice President Rakesh Walia attended the event as chief guests.

Addressing the participants, Ishan Akhtar encouraged young athletes to actively participate in sports alongside academics, emphasizing that sports provide opportunities at state, national and even international levels. Rakesh Walia informed that top performers from the championship will represent Shimla district at the State Swimming Championship scheduled to be held in Solan in July.

Among the standout performers, Akshita secured first place in the 50m Butterfly event, while Ardaas won gold in the 200m Freestyle. Navya Verma topped the 50m Backstroke category, and Eliza Dharta clinched first position in the 100m Backstroke event.

District Swimming Association General Secretary Jagmohan Sharma, Prabha Kaithal and other officials, along with school staff, were also present on the occasion.
