Vipasha from Shimla Tops NIMHANS PhD Entrance Exam

Shimla, June 12. A brilliant student from Shimla, Vipasha Srivastava, has secured the top rank in the All India entrance examination conducted for admission to the PhD program in Mental Health and Rehabilitation at the prestigious National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. She will also receive an institute fellowship to pursue her PhD research.

It is noteworthy that NIMHANS has been recognized by the Government of India as an Institute of National Importance. It is the country’s highest ranking institution in the fields of mental health and neurosciences.

Vipasha recently completed her M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology with distinction from the Department of Psychiatry at Government Medical College and Hospital,
Chandigarh. She had also topped the All India entrance examination conducted for admission to this program.

She earned her B.A. (Honours) in Psychology from Panjab University and a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Delhi. She completed her schooling at Dayanand Public School and Loreto Convent School in Shimla.

Vipasha’s father, Prof. Ajai Srivastava, is retired from Himachal Pradesh University, while her mother, Mridula Srivastava, retired as Deputy General Manager from Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd.

According to her family, Vipasha has dreamed since childhood of becoming a clinical psychologist and working in the field of mental health for underprivileged and marginalized sections of society. She is a Clinical Psychologist recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India and is currently working in the Delhi-NCR region
