SAD Chief Sukhbir Badal Condemns Attack

Poonch, May 7, 2025:
In a tragic fallout of escalating hostilities along the Line of Control, three Sikh devotees lost their lives when the Central Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Sahib in Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir, was hit during Pakistani shelling on Tuesday night.

Confirming the incident, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal strongly condemned the attack, calling it “inhuman” and expressing deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives. The deceased have been identified as Bhai Amrik Singh Ji (raagi), Bhai Amarjeet Singh, and Bhai Ranjit Singh.

Badal, in a statement posted on X, paid tribute to the victims, demanding that they be honored as martyrs and their families provided due compensation. “The Sikhs have always been, and will remain, the sword arm of the country. We stand like a rock with our armed forces,” he said.

He emphasized that while SAD and the nation uphold peace, India must act decisively when its honour is challenged.

According to official reports, 12 civilians, including a woman and three children aged between 12 and 14, were also killed, and 42 others injured in intense overnight artillery shelling by Pakistani forces across the LoC and the International Border in Jammu & Kashmir, following India’s Operation Sindoor.
