Part-Time Class-IV Workers with 7 Years’ Service to be Converted to Daily Wagers

Shimla, May 7, 2025:
In a significant move to regularize services of long-serving part-time employees, the Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to convert Part-Time Class-IV workers who have completed seven years of continuous service as on March 31, 2025 into daily wagers across all government departments.
The conversion will be subject to verification by the respective Heads of Departments, and the posts vacated by such part-time workers will stand abolished. The decision, approved by the Finance Department (U.O. No. 56252344-Fin-F/2025 dated April 5, 2025), mandates that this change will take prospective effect—only after all formalities are completed and orders issued.
While autonomous bodies, boards, corporations, and government universities are not bound to adopt this policy, they may do so depending on their financial viability.
Notably, the government has allowed relaxation for part-time workers not sponsored by Employment Exchanges. Departments are directed to share the conversion data with the Finance (Expenditure) Department for monitoring.
