THDC India Limited Achieves Milestone with India’s First Green Hydrogen Pilot Project

In a momentous stride towards sustainable energy solutions, THDC India Limited, a distinguished player in the power sector, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by successfully implementing India’s First Pilot Project aligned with the “National Green Hydrogen Mission.” The inauguration of this pioneering project, conducted at the THDCIL office complex in Rishikesh, coincided with the 75th Republic Day celebration.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Sh. R. K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director, THDCIL, in the esteemed presence of Sh. Shallinder Singh, Director (Personnel), and Sh. Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical). The event was attended by other senior officers of THDCIL, marking the significance of this accomplishment.

Hon’ble Union Minister for Power and New and Renewable Energy, Sh. R. K. Singh, recently underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to energy transition and India’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) commitment to reduce emissions intensity. The Minister emphasized the importance of various initiatives under the ambit of the National Green Hydrogen Mission, considering their pivotal role in steering India towards self-reliance through clean energy. He noted that these initiatives would serve as a global inspiration for the Clean Energy Transition.

Sh. Vishnoi highlighted that the Pilot Project would produce 50KG of Green Hydrogen daily, utilizing input energy from a 1MW Rooftop Solar Plant. The produced Green Hydrogen would be stored in two storage tanks and subsequently used during night hours to illuminate the THDCIL office complex through a 70 Kw PEM Fuel Cell.

This Pilot Project stands as India’s Largest Electrolyser End Fuel Cell based initiative, showcasing THDCIL’s commitment to innovation in the domain of Green Energy. The project incorporates key technologies involved in Green Hydrogen Production, H2 storage, and features a PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) Hydrogen fuel cell-based microgrid system.

This remarkable achievement not only signifies a significant leap in sustainable practices but also positions THDCIL as a leader in embracing cutting-edge solutions in the pursuit of clean energy.
