Strict Action Against Illegal Sale, Storage and Transportation of Firecrackers
Shimla, September 17, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap has directed strict action against the unauthorised sale, storage, transportation and distribution of firecrackers ahead of Diwali.
He directed licensed traders to ensure valid licences, authorised premises, prescribed storage limits and all required fire and electrical safety arrangements. Violations may lead to seizure of firecrackers and suspension or cancellation of licences.
SDMs and police officials have been asked to conduct regular inspections of markets, licensed premises, storage locations and other sensitive areas.
The DC also urged citizens to report illegal sale or storage of firecrackers and ensure compliance with National Green Tribunal (NGT) directions regarding the use of firecrackers. He appealed to people to celebrate a safe, lawful and environmentally responsible Diwali.
