Shoolini University marks National Nutrition Week with focus on informed dietary choices

Shoolini University observed National Nutrition Week 2026 with a series of awareness and educational initiatives designed to promote informed dietary choices, responsible nutrition practices and healthier lifestyles among students and the wider university community.
The School of Bioengineering and Food Technology organised a webinar on ‘Importance of Supplements and Anti-Doping in Sports’, featuring Ms Ansa Saju, Sports and Wellness Dietitian, Food Sense Organisation, Kerala, as the resource person.
The session addressed key aspects of sports nutrition, including the responsible use of supplements, safe dietary practices and awareness of anti-doping regulations. Ms Saju also highlighted the importance of making informed nutritional choices in sports and fitness. The webinar saw active participation from students and concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session.
As part of the week-long observance, Nutrition and Dietetics students and faculty members conducted a Nutritional Counselling and Awareness Session on the university campus. The initiative covered a range of nutrition-related concerns, including healthy dietary choices, weight management, PCOS and thyroid health, hypertension, diabetes and preventive nutrition.
The counselling programme also included one-on-one consultations, allowing participants to seek personalised guidance on dietary habits and healthy lifestyle practices. The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical application by allowing Nutrition and Dietetics students to engage directly with members of the university community.
Head, School of Bioengineering and Food Technology, Prof. Pankaj Chauhan, highlighted the role of nutrition in disease prevention, sports performance and overall well-being, while encouraging participants to adopt sustainable and informed food choices in their daily lives. He further added that, with ‘Eat Right, Live Bright!’ as the guiding message.
