JUIT Organised Internal Hackathon for Smart India Hackathon 2026
Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), Waknaghat, successfully organised its Internal Hackathon for Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026 as an offline, overnight two-day event on 22–23 August 2026. The event was organised by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), JUIT. Prof. Tiratha Raj Singh, Associate Dean (Innovation) & Vice President, IIC JUIT along with the university SPOC, Dr. Amit Kumar, Department of Computer Science Engineering & Information Technology organized the event.
The hackathon was inaugurated by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. R. K. Sharma, in the presence of senior university officials, including Prof. Ashish Kumar, Prof. Vivek Sehgal, Prof. P. K. Gupta and Dr. Saurabh Srivastava. Other faculty members and head of the departments were also present during the inauguration of the SIH event. The inaugural session also featured an online interaction with two national-level winners of the previous edition of SIH, who shared their experiences and motivated the participating teams.
The build phase commenced at around 4:00 PM on 22 August, with teams working overnight on their selected problem statements across various campus venues. Senior student mentors conducted a midnight progress review and guided teams in refining their solutions.
The final evaluation began at 11:00 AM on 23 August, with faculty judges assessing teams on innovation and novelty, technical feasibility, domain knowledge and quality of implementation. Following the evaluation, the Top 50 teams were shortlisted for nomination to the next stage of SIH 2026. IIC student council played a crucial role in the successful organization of this event. All the technical clubs of JUIT actively participated in the organization of this event.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across the university and provided them with an intensive platform to develop innovative, technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges. The successful organisation of the hackathon reaffirmed JUIT’s commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, interdisciplinary collaboration and technical excellence among its students.
