Shimla, June 10: Samagra Shiksha Director Rajesh Sharma emphasized the importance of emotional and ethical education in shaping well-rounded students during the concluding session of a three-day State Resource Group (SRG) capacity-building workshop on SEE Learning (Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning) in Shimla.

Addressing educators and resource persons, Sharma said that while Himachal Pradesh continues to excel in academic performance indicators, modern education must also focus on developing emotionally resilient, compassionate and ethically responsible students. He highlighted that increasing academic pressure and mental health challenges make social and emotional learning more relevant than ever.

He urged teachers to effectively integrate SEE Learning concepts into classroom teaching and help students develop empathy, self-awareness, responsibility and the ability to cope with challenges. According to him, the true purpose of education extends beyond examination success to the overall development of children.

Sharma also highlighted several initiatives undertaken by the state government to improve the quality of education, including English-medium instruction, innovative teaching practices and international exposure visits for teachers. He expressed confidence that SEE Learning would become an integral part of school education and contribute significantly to nurturing future-ready students.

The workshop concluded with discussions on implementing social, emotional and ethical learning practices in schools across the state.
