Rampur, October 12: The International Lavi Fair 2026 will be held in Rampur from November 11 to 14, featuring four cultural evenings, a laser show, a traditional food festival, an equestrian exhibition and activities highlighting Bushahr’s rich heritage.

Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap announced the dates during a meeting of the fair organising committee in Rampur. Two cultural evenings will focus on Pahari culture, while the other two will feature Bollywood and Punjabi music. Sports competitions, traditional musical instrument contests, a poetry meet, a wall art competition and Mr and Miss Bushahr contests will also be organised.

The fair will showcase Bushahr’s history and cultural heritage through exhibitions of old photographs, documents, traditional handicrafts, handloom products, woollens, jewellery and local agricultural and horticultural produce. A Rampur Heritage Walk, traditional crafts demonstrations and displays highlighting historic trade links between Bushahr and Tibet will also be among the attractions.

A special horse exhibition will feature Himachal Pradesh’s renowned Chamurthi breed, known for its ability to navigate difficult mountain terrain. Horse races over 400 and 800 metres and balloon-bursting contests are planned. A farmers’ seminar will focus on animal health, care and improved livestock management.

Around 300 police personnel will be deployed for security, Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said. The administration will also arrange special lighting and decorations across Rampur, additional temporary drinking-water connections and parking facilities.

For the first time, students from Rampur and nearby schools will participate in an essay-writing competition on the history of the Lavi Fair. Other initiatives will include exhibitions of government departments’ recent achievements, a uniform canopy design for the Kinnauri market, blood donation and health check-up camps, and awareness campaigns on road safety, drug prevention, disaster management, cyber safety and environmental protection.
