Detailed Review Held on Status, Reasons for Delay and Resolution of Forest Clearance Cases
Chamba, August 18, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repswal has directed all concerned departments to ensure the time-bound resolution of pending Forest Conservation Act (FCA) permission cases related to various development projects in Chamba district.
Repswal was chairing a review meeting on FCA-related matters at the National Informatics Centre (NIC), organised under the Dalhousie and Churah Forest Divisions.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments and Forest Department officials to complete all necessary departmental formalities associated with pending FCA cases within the stipulated timelines and forward the cases for further approval without delay.
Emphasising the need to accelerate the departmental process, Repswal called for greater priority to be given to inter-departmental coordination and coordinated action among all stakeholders involved in processing forest clearance cases.
He also issued directions for expediting forest permission-related procedures under the Forest Rights Committee (FRC) for projects such as construction of Gaushalas, parking facilities and link roads at the panchayat level.
During the meeting, the progress of various projects was reviewed department-wise in detail. The Deputy Commissioner also examined the current status of pending permission cases, assessed the reasons for delays and issued necessary directions to officials for their early resolution.
Repswal stressed that timely disposal of FCA cases is essential for ensuring that development projects do not face unnecessary delays while maintaining compliance with applicable forest conservation requirements.
