Jairam Thakur Slams Sukhu Government Over Treasury Closure

1 min read

Shimla, January 12, 2025:
Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur criticized the Sukhu government for its alleged failure to manage the state’s treasury, leading to a halt in payments for over two months. Thakur stated that this has resulted in a state of “anarchy” in Himachal Pradesh, affecting not only common citizens but also essential services.

“The treasury has been unofficially shut for two months, leaving people unable to claim their payments from the government. Even payments for essential services and vendors remain pending,” he said. He highlighted that essential medicine supplies to hospitals have been stopped due to non-payment to suppliers, creating a healthcare crisis in the state.

Thakur accused the Sukhu government of turning the promise of “system reform” into “system collapse.” He further alleged that development projects have come to a standstill, schools are being shut, and the public distribution system is failing.

Criticizing the government’s inability to address these issues, Thakur urged Chief Minister Sukhu to lift the “blockade” on the treasury and resume payments to ease the suffering of the people. He also questioned the government’s ability to fulfill its election promises and accused it of prioritizing rhetoric over responsibility.
