BCS Celebrates 167th Founder’s Day with State’s CM

Shimla, 28 July 2026: Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, celebrated its 167th Founder’s Day with great pride and tradition on Tuesday, 28th July 2026. The occasion was graced by Shri Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, who presided over the celebrations as the Chief Guest.

The day’s proceedings commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, followed by the laying of wreaths at the Founder’s Bust, flag hoisting, and an introduction to the School Board, faculty and prefects. A solemn procession to the Holy Trinity Chapel led into the Founder’s Day Chapel Service, upholding the institution’s rich traditions and values. Following the service, the Hon’ble Chief Minister spent time interacting warmly with the Cottonian students, engaging in friendly conversations and appreciating their enthusiasm, achievements and the vibrant spirit of the school community. The morning programme continued with High Tea in the Dining Hall and the ceremonial flagging off of the School’s Mountaineering Expedition.

A major highlight of the celebrations was the T. M. Whitmarsh Knight Memorial Lecture – 2026, held in Irwin Hall.

The memorial lecture, titled “Digital Safety 101: Social Media, Privacy, and Cyberbullying – Essential Skills for Students Today,” was delivered by Mr. Amit Dubey, a renowned expert in National Security, Cyber Intelligence, Cybersecurity, AI Security and Cybercrime Investigation. Through his insightful address, Mr. Dubey highlighted the growing importance of digital literacy, online privacy, responsible social media usage and cyber safety, equipping students with practical knowledge to navigate the digital world securely and responsibly.

The celebrations concluded with lunch in the Main Dining Hall, bringing together distinguished guests, alumni, staff and students in a spirit of fellowship and shared heritage.

The 167th Founder’s Day celebrations once again reflected Bishop Cotton School’s enduring commitment to honouring its distinguished legacy while empowering its students with the knowledge, values and skills needed to thrive in an ever-evolving world.
