Jairam Thakur Condemns Decision to End Free Electricity Subsidy

1 min read

Shimla: Opposition leader Jairam Thakur strongly criticized the Himachal Pradesh government for abruptly ending the free electricity subsidy scheme, accusing the Congress of deceiving the state’s residents. Thakur described the move as authoritarian and unfortunate for the people of the state. He alleged that after promising 300 units of free electricity during elections, the Sukhu government has now withdrawn even the existing 125 units, terming it a betrayal of public trust. Thakur highlighted the timing of this decision, coming immediately after the by-elections, as evidence of the government’s deceitful intentions.

Thakur further warned that such actions reflect Congress’s habitual practice of making false promises to gain power and then reversing them once in office. He criticized the government for its lack of transparency and accountability, emphasizing that the BJP will lead protests against these anti-people policies.
