Jairam Slams CM Sukhu Over Job Promises, ₹1500 Scheme, and Balika Ashram Incident

Shimla, 13 June 2025 – Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has sharply criticized the Sukhu-led Congress government for failing to fulfill key poll promises. He accused the Chief Minister of misleading the public with hollow claims about thousands of government jobs, even as unemployed youth continue protesting across Himachal Pradesh. Thakur questioned the delay in reinstating the Staff Selection Commission and challenged the government to clarify whether the promised jobs are permanent and pensionable.

He also raised serious concerns over the failure to provide ₹1500 monthly to women aged 18–59, a flagship guarantee made during the elections. Calling it a betrayal of Himachali women, he condemned the government’s extensive publicity expenditure on what he termed as a “false claim.”

On the tragic death of a girl at the Balika Ashram in Mashobra, Thakur expressed sorrow and demanded a sensitive and impartial investigation. He urged the government to ensure a safe environment for all girls residing in such shelters.
