1 min read

Shimla, March 24, 2025 – In an effort to ensure food safety, Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has directed increased food sampling in urban and small-town markets. Speaking at a district-level advisory committee meeting under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, the DC emphasized strict monitoring of food vendors along highways to prevent the sale of substandard and hazardous food products.

Authorities will now conduct frequent checks on milk, paneer, sweets, fruits, and vegetables, and those selling food items without authorization will face strict legal action. Additionally, food samples will be collected at hotels, resorts, and large events, such as weddings, to prevent food poisoning incidents. Special inspections will also be carried out near schools and in small markets surrounding Shimla city.

DC Kashyap urged the public to report any food safety violations, encouraging consumer awareness to ensure safe and hygienic food consumption. The meeting was attended by ADM Jyoti Rana, Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety Dharmendra Chauhan, Dietitian Anjana Sharma, and Nutritional Counselor Neelma Sharma, among others.
