Himachal’s First Digital University to be Set Up in Ghumarwin at ₹300 Crore: Minister Rajesh Dharmani
Bilaspur, October 27, 2025: Himachal Pradesh Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani announced that the state’s first Digital University will be established at Kasaru in Ghumarwin Assembly constituency with an investment of ₹300 crore. The land acquisition process is underway, and construction will begin soon.
Dharmani stated that the project will offer world-class, affordable, and industry-oriented education in fields like AI, Cyber Security, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Semiconductors. The initiative aims to democratize education and empower youth through flexible, virtual learning modes, especially benefiting rural students.
He further shared that from the 2026–27 session, 100 government schools will be affiliated with CBSE, including six in Bilaspur district. Under the Sukh Shiksha Yojana, the government will bear full educational expenses of children of widows, divorcees, destitute, and differently-abled parents up to 27 years of age.
Dharmani also highlighted ongoing efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure, with one model hospital planned per constituency, and praised the success of natural farming, now practiced by over 2.2 lakh farmers across Himachal.
