Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening Camp Held at RKMV Shimla
Shimla, October 5: A breast cancer awareness and screening programme was organised at Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalaya (RKMV), Shimla, by the Women Cell as part of Pink October – International Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The programme, organised in collaboration with Shoolini University, Solan, and Yuvraj Singh Foundation (YouWeCan), Gurugram, under the theme “My Mother Matters”, aimed to raise awareness among students and women staff about breast cancer and the importance of timely screening.
Awareness sessions were conducted in classrooms, while individual counselling was also provided to students. A special screening camp was organised for female faculty and staff using Niramai Thermalytix, an AI-based screening technology described as radiation-free and non-invasive.
Dr Divya, technician Pinky and coordinator Sakshi from Shoolini University, along with Mukul from YouWeCan Foundation, provided services during the programme.
Principal Dr Anurita Saxena said awareness about women’s health was essential and stressed the importance of timely detection of breast cancer. The programme was coordinated by Women Cell Convenor Dr Sandhya Sharma and her team.
