Learning from recent devastating earthquakes in Japan, Nepal, Taiwan, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Vanuatu, the Himachal Pradesh Disaster Management Authority has launched a plan to enhance earthquake-resistant construction. Special training is being provided to construction professionals to implement seismic safety techniques in building structures.
Eachpanchayat will nominate five professionals for this training, including masons, carpenters, and bar benders. They will be trained in structural design, material selection, and safe construction practices for seismic zones.
Training has already begun in Kullu and Banjar, where six-day workshops are being conducted at Govt. Polytechnic Institute, Seubag, and the Block Development Officer’s office in Banjar. District Coordinator Prashant stated that this initiative is crucial for ensuring the safety of lives and infrastructure during future earthquakes.
