Shimla, June 28: Leader of Opposition and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur alleged that the state’s healthcare system has deteriorated under the Congress government, citing recent incidents of alleged medical negligence in Kullu and Solan, as well as infrastructure issues at IGMC Shimla and other government hospitals.
Thakur questioned the functioning of the state’s health institutions, alleging shortages of doctors, poor hospital management, and delays in addressing patients’ concerns. He called for accountability in cases where families have alleged negligence in treatment.
Speaking after listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme in Panchkula, Thakur also praised India’s progress in indigenous defence manufacturing and supported the Prime Minister’s call for water conservation through the “Catch the Rain” campaign.
He further congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on receiving Seychelles’ highest environmental honour, the “Guardian of the Blue Horizon” award, describing it as recognition of India’s growing global leadership in sustainable development and environmental conservation.
